To celebrate National Science Week, we are hosting Meet a Researcher Q&A sessions during the week of 17 - 23 August, with sessions running until the end of Term 3. These sessions will involve a Telethon Kids researcher coming out to your school for a one hour visit, which includes:

  • A presentation by the researcher about their career and the life-saving work they do
  • Show-and-Tell or a quick game or quiz related to the researcher's field of study
  • An opportunity for your class to ask any questions they may have

Sessions are completely free for participating schools and are suitable for Years 3 - 6. They provide a great opportunity for your class to learn about different careers in the field of science and health to kickstart National Science Week. There are limited dates available, so email us to register your interest today and one of our team members will be in touch with you shortly.

Get your class excited about science and health research with our Discovery Centre schools program!

We're trialling a brand-new education program for kids in years 3, 4, 5 and 6. The program goes for two hours and includes:

  • A visit to the Discovery Centre, where your students will learn about health and research through our engaging games
  • Science activities run by real-life researchers
  • A viewing of a real-life working lab

Activities may include:

  • Extracting DNA from strawberries
  • Viewing cheek cells under a microscope
  • Using video technology to look inside an ear
  • Looking at different types of allergens using handheld microscopes.

Complete the form here to register your interest and be a part of this exciting, free pilot program. We're currently taking bookings for Term 4.

Please note that due to the limitations of the pilot program, we are currently only accepting one booking per school. Schools will need to provide travel to and from the Institute.
